4,000 Redbud Seedlings are Planted by

Citizens Development Center and TXU Energy Volunteers

…all in One Day!

This past April TXU Energy and Citizens Development Center joined forces with the Texas Trees Foundation to promote awareness of the many ways adults with disabilities can contribute to the business community.  Through its “Rooted In Community Growth” project TXU Energy volunteers and Citizens Development Center workers planted approximately 4,000 Redbud seedlings that will eventually be distributed to various local communities throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area through the Trees For Texas Program.

Citizens Development Center, a Dallas-based nonprofit organization, offers two major programs: a work center for daily vocational training, as well as employment services for adults with disabilities seeking to transition into the “real world” work force. Citizens Development Center works with a variety of local corporations, like TXU Energy, to provide daily jobs for its workers.

“TXU Energy is committed to being involved and caring for the community that we all live and work in” said Lacy Walker, TXU Energy spokeswoman and volunteer. “We cherish partnerships with life-changing organizations like Citizens Development Center, and we are so excited to be here to help promote awareness for the many ways adults with disabilities can help our communities grow.”

The Texas Trees Foundation thanks TXU Energy and the Citizens Development Center for their hard work and commitment to the environment and our urban forest.  We look forward to a long and TREEmendous partnership!
